This afternoon we had a scheduled green drill. During a green drill, students exit the building to the baseball field located across the parking lot until an all clear is given. Students were outside for approx. 15 minutes.

We would like to thank the students for their cooperation. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at 630-980-9898.

Happy Spring!

Hope everyone is enjoying this spring weather. With the nice weather comes our spring Crisis Drills. Today at 2:10pm we had a scheduled Tornado Drill. Everything went smoothly and the students did a great job getting to their designated areas in a timely fashion.

Thank you for your cooperation!

Dear Parents:

March 2nd - 5th, our students will begin taking the Illinois Standards Achievement Test (ISAT). It is important for our school to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). This ensures us that we will continue receiving federal funding for specific programs.

You can help your child do his/her best by:

1. Making sure that your child attends school on the days the tests are administered.

2. Ensuring that your child gets a good night’s sleep the night before testing.

3. Providing breakfast in the morning and a snack/water bottle during the test.

4. Be sure that your child has two #2 pencils (sharpened) and a calculator.

5. Letting your child know that you have confidence in his/her ability to do his/her best.

Thank you for your support!

Check out the new 4:00 bus routes for Carol Stream and Hanover Park/Bloomingdale! Keep in mind the times are approximate depending upon the number of students on the late buses.

Also - Information will be coming regarding the 2010 ISAT schedule. ISAT's will be administered during the first week of March. Attendance is especially important that week! Thank you for your support.

I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving celebration with your families and friends! It’s that time of year again and the temperatures are starting to drop. Please remind your child to dress for the weather. Students often need to stand at their bus stops for up to 10 minutes waiting for their buses in the morning. Be sure they are wearing a winter coat, hat, gloves, scarves, etc. Also we need to be sure that the students are at the stop at least 5 to 10 minutes before the bus arrives in the morning.

We’d really appreciate your support in this matter.

Happy Monday! Our students are doing a great job remembering to show their picture I.D.’s to their drivers every day after school! As a reminder, if you child forgets his/her I.D. at home, he/she needs to come to the main office during lunch and purchase a temporary I.D. for 25 cents. If he/she has lost his/her I.D., the replacement cost for a picture I.D. is $5.00.

Please review Bus Expectations with your son/daughter:
• Students may only take the bus they are assigned to. If a student needs to take a different bus in order to work on a school-related assignment with a classmate, both students need to bring a note to the main office from their parents.
• Stay seated while on the bus.
• Wait at the designated area, respect their neighbor’s property, and obey the bus driver.
• Be safety conscious.

If your child is staying after school for an activity, there is a late bus available for your son/daughter at 4:00 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday as well as an additional bus at 3:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Please be sure that he/she can tell the driver the cross streets nearest your home.
Have a great week!

What a great first week back to school! I’ve enjoyed seeing and talking with our returning students as well as meeting our new students at Stratford! I’m really looking forward to an exciting new school year!

Picture day is next week on Wednesday, September 2nd! All students will have their picture taken for their I.D.’s and the yearbook. Please let me know if your child’s assigned bus route is incorrect before next Wednesday so that we can correct it in our system.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Good Morning!
On your child’s schedule you will find his/her assigned bus route and bus stop. Although many of the bus route numbers have changed from last year, most of the bus stops remain the same. All of our Stratford students will receive their new picture I.D. cards on Sept. 2nd. The I.D. cards also include the bus route number on them. Once I.D. cards are issued, all bus riders will be required to show their I.D.’s to the bus drivers every day after school. More information to follow…Have a great day!!!
