So Respectful… Most Responsible… Super Proud!!! The Stratford PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention System) committee would like to take the opportunity to welcome you all to the 2010-2011 school year. We are anxious to kick off the new school year with a variety of activities designed to foster a school culture based on the core values we expect from our staff, our students and our parents: So Respectful… Most Responsible… Super Proud!!! We will review and reinforce these central, behavioral expectations throughout the school year and celebrate each student’s accomplishments along the way. For starters… we’ll be hosting our first PBIS celebration on Friday September 3rd to welcome our students back to school and get the PBIS philosophy in full swing. There are a number of activities and events planned for the day, and students will have the opportunity to sign up for these events starting on August 30th. In addition, parents are welcomed to come to Stratford from (approximately) 1:30 to 2:45 to see what our celebrations are all about. Please stop by the office for a visitor’s pass if you choose to do so. Based on your suggestions on our PBIS survey last year we’ve done a lot of work to better serve your needs. (If you missed the opportunity to complete said survey- please click here to complete one today.) The PBIS team has been busy refining and improving our goals for PBIS and your input was invaluable. Our website now features an online version of Stratford’s Code of Conduct to ensure that students, parents and staff are all on the same page in regards to the behavioral expectations here at SMS. While our efforts will continue to be a positive intervention strategy for appropriate student behavior we have devised a very detailed matrix of unacceptable behaviors and their consequences to promote a more consistent implementation throughout the building. We’ve also uploaded the PBIS training video that all students view in the fall to our website for your viewing pleasure. Watch for PBIS website updates to stay informed of our monthly PBIS expectations, celebrations and general information regarding the committee’s efforts to make each student successful here at Stratford. -The PBIS Family Communication Committee
